We are proud to announce the launch of Walk the Talk, our new safety leadership programme designed to bring our directors and senior leaders closer to the people and places that keep JN Civils moving.
Last week, our Fleet Director, Matt Holt, visited the Cadent Gas team on site in Uxbridge. He was not there to inspect or audit. He was there to connect. And that simple shift in purpose is exactly what Walk the Talk is all about.
Why Walk the Talk Matters
When leaders step onto site in a genuine, human way, something powerful happens. People open up. Real conversations take place. We get to see and feel what safety looks like in practice, not just in documents or dashboards.
The smiles captured during Matt’s visit say more than any report ever could. They show the value of being present, listening and understanding the day-to-day reality of our teams.
What the Programme Aims to Achieve
Walk the Talk is designed to help us understand our safety climate. That means the real, lived perceptions and attitudes our people have about working safely. By listening to those experiences, we can strengthen our safety culture across every part of our business.
Safety climate gives us the view. Safety culture is where we are heading. One cannot grow without the other.
Part of Our Connecting Safely Framework
Walk the Talk sits at the centre of our Connecting Safely framework, which includes our 11 Critical Risk Controls. These controls protect our people across Gas, Electric, Telecoms, Water, Recycling and Traffic Management. The programme helps ensure these controls are not only written down but understood, valued and put into practice every day.
Building a Stronger Culture, One Visit at a Time
We are committed to creating a culture where safety is lived, not just taught. Walk the Talk is a big step forward in that journey. It brings our leaders closer to the work, strengthens relationships and helps us learn directly from the people who know our operations best.
We are proud of the culture we are building at JN Civils. One conversation, one site visit, one team at a time.
